i have both xp and vista ultimate. but internet doesn’t work on vista(it works only on xp). i tried to visit microsoft links but couln’t find how to start the download as the link on that site could not open.

Hope it helps, you cant get direct downlaods from microsoft all you gotta do is follow those links and clickdownload and it will start (its all done through java.

If the Windows Update link does not work for your Vista, it is likely because Microsoft detects that this is not a legitimate version. Over the last year, Microsoft has tightened the screw over unlicensed versions of its software and did announce it would no longer provide them with updates. On the other hand, if you are trying to download from a legitimate XP OS, Microsoft will only make available updates for XP.

A Vista service pack needs an Internet connection to download and would not download on XP as the Microsoft site automatically assumes you’re downloading the wrong thing for the OS you are running
